The Future Tense of Proponer is used to talk about suggestions or proposals you will make in the future. For example, Propondé ir al cine esta noche. (I will propose going to the movies tonight.)

This verb follows the e to d stem-changing pattern in the future tense. The e in the verb stem changes to d before all endings except the nosotros form.

Proponer generally means to propose or suggest something, but has several different meanings in the Future Tense, some of which might surprise you.

To propose an idea or plan: For example, Yo propondré una nueva estrategia de marketing el próximo año. (I will propose a new marketing strategy next year.)

To suggest doing something: For example, ¿Qué propondrás para celebrar tu cumpleaños? (What will you suggest to celebrate your birthday?)

To nominate someone: For example, El comité propondrá a María para el premio al empleado del mes. (The committee will nominate Maria for the employee of the month award.)

To intend or aim to do something (colloquial): For example, ¿Qué propondrás este fin de semana, salir de fiesta o quedarte en casa? (What do you intend to do this weekend, go out partying or stay home?)

To make a romantic advance (colloquial, sometimes rude): For example, El borracho le propondrá a cualquier mujer que pase por la calle. (The drunk guy will make advances on any woman who walks by on the street.)
