Amanecer Subjunctive Mood in Castilian Spanish

The Presente de Subjuntivo of Amanecer is used to express wishes, desires, or uncertainty about the dawning or beginning of something, for example: Ojalá amanezca un nuevo día de paz y prosperidad. (May a new day of peace and prosperity dawn.)

This verb belongs to the -cer to -zca spelling-changing conjugation type, where the ‘c’ changes to ‘zc’ before the vowel endings.

Amanecer generally means “to dawn” or “daybreak”, but has several different meanings in the Subjunctive Mood, some of which might surprise you.
