Usage of Recaer in the Future Tense

Recaer generally means to fall back into something, but has several different meanings in the Future Tense, some of which might surprise you.

To relapse or fall back into an illness or bad habit: For example, Recaeré en mi adicción al tabaco si no tengo cuidado. (I will relapse into my tobacco addiction if I’m not careful.)

To fall or land on something (colloquial): For example, Si no te cuidas, recaerás en la cárcel. (If you’re not careful, you’ll land in jail.)

To burden or fall upon someone (colloquial): For example, Toda la responsabilidad recaerá sobre ti. (All the responsibility will fall on you.)
