Recordar Subjunctive Mood in Castilian Spanish

The presente de subjuntivo of recordar is used to express desires, doubts, or uncertainty about remembering something, for example: Es importante que recuerdes tus llaves. (It’s important that you remember your keys.)

This is a stem-changing verb, where the “o” changes to “ue” in all forms except nosotros/nosotras and vosotros/vosotras.

To remind: for example, Es importante que recuerdes tomar tus medicinas. (It’s important that you remember to take your medicines.)

To keep in mind: for example, Recuerda que te quiero mucho. (Remember that I love you very much.)

To commemorate: for example, Cada año recordemos a los caídos en la guerra. (Every year let’s commemorate those fallen in the war.)

To mention: for example, No recuerdes ese tema delante de los niños. (Don’t mention that topic in front of the children.)

Colloquial usage: ¡Recuerda cerrar bien la puerta cuando salgas! (Remember to close the door properly when you leave!) can be a mild scolding.
