The Present Tense of encontrarse is used to describe where someone or something is currently located or in what state they find themselves, for example, Me encuentro en la biblioteca. (I find myself in the library.)

This verb follows the o to ue stem-changing pattern in the present tense, where the o changes to ue in all forms except nosotros and vosotros.

Los manifestantes se encuentran en las calles exigiendo cambios. (The protesters are in the streets demanding change.)

Cuando estoy estresado, me encuentro haciendo ejercicio para despejarme. (When I’m stressed, I find myself exercising to clear my mind.)

¿Qué tal te encuentras? No te ves muy bien. (How are you feeling? You don’t look too good.)

La empresa se encuentra en una posición financiera sólida. (The company finds itself in a strong financial position.)

Después del divorcio, nos encontramos adaptándonos a una nueva dinámica familiar. (After the divorce, we find ourselves adapting to a new family dynamic.)

¿Cómo os encontráis con el nuevo jefe? ¿Es exigente? (How are you all doing with the new boss? Is he demanding?)

Los científicos se encuentran investigando una cura para esa enfermedad. (Scientists are researching a cure for that disease.)

Cuando estoy con mis amigos, me encuentro riendo y pasándola bien. (When I’m with my friends, I find myself laughing and having a good time.)

¿Dónde te encuentras, amigo? ¡Hace tiempo que no te veo! (Where are you, friend? It’s been a while since I’ve seen you!)

Los turistas se encuentran disfrutando de las playas paradisíacas. (The tourists are enjoying the paradise beaches.)
