Ser generally means “to be”, but has several different meanings in the Future Tense, some of which might surprise you.

To exist or be located: for example, Seremos en el parque mañana. (We will be in the park tomorrow.)

To happen or occur: for example, La fiesta será el próximo sábado. (The party will be next Saturday.)

To belong or be part of: for example, Seré parte del equipo de fútbol. (I will be part of the soccer team.)

To represent or symbolize: for example, Este símbolo será la paz. (This symbol will represent peace.)

To act or behave (colloquial): for example, ¡Serás un tonto si no lo haces! (You’ll be a fool if you don’t do it!)

To become or turn into: for example, Seré un adulto el próximo año. (I will become an adult next year.)

To result in or end up as (colloquial): for example, Si sigues así, serás un fracasado. (If you keep going like that, you’ll end up a failure.)

Cuando me gradúe, seré un profesional en mi campo. (When I graduate, I will be a professional in my field.)

¿Crees que serás un buen padre algún día? (Do you think you will be a good father someday?)

Para el 2025, esta ciudad será mucho más moderna. (By 2025, this city will be much more modern.)

Mis abuelos serán muy felices cuando nazca mi primer hijo. (My grandparents will be very happy when my first child is born.)

El próximo verano, seré un estudiante de intercambio en España. (Next summer, I will be an exchange student in Spain.)

Cuando me jubile, seré un viajero del mundo. (When I retire, I will be a world traveler.)

En diez años, serán dueños de su propia empresa. (In ten years, they will be owners of their own business.)

Después de esta terapia, seré una persona más positiva. (After this therapy, I will be a more positive person.)
